Lose it lately? Admittedly, sometimes it seems to feel good to let loose our wrath. That seed of inner rage possesses us (consumed with hate and vengeance) and unfortunately, on occasion, we give it free range to express itself. And then? Remorse. We wish we could take it back, start over, or pretend it never happened. Ugh!
‘The slap’ has been much on my mind of late. My heart goes out to Will Smith, for I know his subconscious buttons got pushed, and on the world stage, he acted out his rage. Chris Rock did not deserve to be assaulted, he was just doing his job ~ making jokes. In fact, Chris handled it so well that he became the true hero of the Academy Awards by guiding everyone to move on. It seems that he deeply understands rage, having had personal experience with it in his past, and later he did an even greater act. He let it go. He did not press charges. Wow.
I found it amazing that a Rooster showed up in my backyard the next day. They are notoriously associated with cockfights and their red faces say it all. However, they are also known to be a symbol of resurrection. What they have to teach us concerns the ability to be direct. And when it comes to rage, I think the best approach is to admit when we are feeling rageful. But then, we must do whatever it takes to thwart the expression of rage, until we are in a place where truths can be told without taking an attacking stance.
How wonderful it would have been if Will could have simply stood up and said, “Hey Chris, my wife has suffered with her hair condition, so please understand that to us it hurts to poke fun of it.” He would have showed his wife that he had the ability to protect her in a grace filled way.
To me, the only real fight worth engaging in is to take repossession of our own mind. We are all loving souls trying to live peaceful lives. Our love-based thoughts are the only thoughts given to us by our Creator. The ego thought system is false. It is forever telling us that might makes right, and that we should go after people who have done us wrong. We need only look at the continuous cycle of war being played out on the world stage to see how insane that belief system is.
As Chris demonstrated, turning the other cheek is all about seeing that our supposed attacker is really calling out for help because they have temporality lost their mind! The president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has definitely been taken over by an insane thought system and needs to be stopped. His ego has taken over his ability to experience compassion. But, we must respond with love and understanding for the Russian people. This is how duality is undone and we all heal. Direct action to stop destruction and a united compassionate response to aid Ukraine will do much to repair the deep wounds. But, vengeance can’t be a part of it or where will it end?
Let’s forgive ourselves for all the times our own ego has taken over and lashed out at others, whether it seems justified or not. Let’s forgive all others for their transgressions. Let’s speak truth from our heart when it is important to speak up for unjust circumstances. Let’s take divinely guided action to correct our mistakes. Let’s strive to let go of all conflict in our own minds and send love to those who struggle to do the same ~ the real healing of the world depends on it.
